The wind power industry itself made over
$2 billion in tax-deferred profits in 2004
from subsidies by tax payers in the USA.

The process of developing wind power
has therefore become a highly organized
and targetted process with lobbying,
access, influence, contributions, and
payoffs leading the way to corporation
profits. All this has been cloaked in a
cleaner than clean environmental image.

The aim here is to educate and inform. The wind
power industry itself prefers to disseminate the
barest minimum of information or content regarding
projects, equipment, and wind power, preferring
instead for people to believe a fairy-tale image of
windmill projects and their benefits.

While wind power may appear as self-evidently the
coolest and most environmentally friendly energy
source on the planet - closer inspection reveals that
this is mostly wishful thinking. The reality is that
projects often lose their glitter and appeal when
considerations of size, scale, actual costs, benefits
and environmental impacts are diagnosed and
determined within a targetted community.
